Radiance

This photograph was used at an Oncology Conference at Barretstown Castle at which Paul Newman was keynote speaker. This is an image of hope and optimism where the child’s face beams like sunshine, her hair like rays of sun.

Digital Hub

Through photography and painting I have been documenting everyday family life with an emphasis on the part played by technology. This photograph shows how the ordinary home evolves into a digital hub, heralding a new age of change.

Viva Aviva

During the Covid pandemic, the Aviva Stadium took on a new role as a vaccination venue. The bustle and excitement of match days were replaced by long orderly queues of Dubliners awaiting their first vaccination. This photograph represents the tranquility of that day when the word ‘Viva’ took on its true meaning.

Re-emergence

The strict Lock-Down which was imposed by Covid 19, brought hardship to people of all ages and an unnatural isolation for the young. This photograph shows a girl getting ready to go out with a certain degree of trepidation, once the restrictions were lifted, .

This composition was inspired by Dutch 17th Century paintings, most notably Vermeer’s The Love Letter, where the subject is seen through a darkened hallway and illuminated from one side. The black and white chequered tiles are reminiscent of Vermeer’s paintings where he used these as a strong compositional device.
